Lucas Bergvall Faces Significant Injury Setback for Tottenham HotspurLucas Bergvall Faces Significant Injury Setback for Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Bergvall has earned six caps for the Swedish national team.

Tottenham Hotspur is currently awaiting a definitive diagnosis regarding Lucas Bergvall’s ankle injury, amid early reports suggesting he may be sidelined for up to three months.

The Sweden international sustained the injury during the 2-0 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. He was substituted in the second half after attempting to continue playing despite the discomfort.

At just 19 years old, Bergvall is poised to be unavailable for an extended period, which will undoubtedly be a setback for head coach Thomas Frank.

The Spurs medical team is still evaluating the severity of the injury, and the club has yet to provide further details on Bergvall’s condition.

Frank did not specify a recovery timeframe in his press briefing ahead of the Premier League match against Burnley on Saturday.

Initial tests indicate that a three-month layoff is the worst-case scenario for Bergvall.

Bergvall joined Tottenham in February 2024 and has made 26 appearances for the north London club this season.

Currently, Spurs are positioned 14th in the Premier League after a lackluster first half of the season under Frank.

The Danish manager is grappling with numerous injury challenges, as key players such as James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, and Ben Davies are out for extended periods.

Richarlison is expected to return from a thigh injury in six weeks, while Palhinha is also dealing with a minor injury.
