Luciano Valente has been selected for the Netherlands national football team for the first time in his career. Feyenoord coach Robin van Persie has expressed his strong support for this decision made by national coach Ronald Koeman.

Valente, who previously played youth internationals for Italy, recently made the switch to represent the Netherlands.
