Luis Diaz Faces Three Match Ban Following Red CardLuis Diaz Faces Three Match Ban Following Red Card

Luis Diaz has not faced a red card in his 148 matches for Liverpool, but he will now serve a three-match ban after being sent off in Bayern Munich’s recent Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.

In the match held on November 4, Diaz scored twice to help Bayern secure a 2-1 victory over the defending champions PSG. However, he was subsequently dismissed for a severe tackle on Achraf Hakimi just before halftime. The challenge resulted in Hakimi suffering a significant ankle injury, leaving him unable to play since that encounter.

Uefa has classified Diaz’s tackle as “serious rough play,” leading to the three-match suspension. Consequently, he will miss the upcoming match against Arsenal on November 26, along with home games against Sporting on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.

Previously, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany had anticipated that Diaz would receive only a one-match suspension.

Currently, Bayern Munich leads the Champions League standings with 12 points from four matches, maintaining a slight edge over Arsenal and Inter Milan in goal difference.

This season, Diaz has made a notable impact, scoring three goals in four Champions League appearances since joining Bayern from Liverpool in the summer, and netting six times in ten Bundesliga matches.
