In a comprehensive interview with SPORT, the Uruguayan striker shared, “I often believe I serve as an example of rebellion and perseverance, of fighting and pushing through. I have consistently battled against criticism. I made my debut at the age of 18 with Nacional, and I faced scrutiny for missing opportunities. That was the beginning of my struggle to turn that criticism around.”

Suárez also noted a significant transformation when he steps onto the pitch: “My wife and children can hardly believe what they hear when I start shouting. Sometimes, I am not even aware of it myself. This fighting spirit and rebellious nature have always been part of who I am. I have tried to change it at times, yes, I truly have, but occasionally, my on-field personality dominates my other traits.”
