Luis Suárez, forward for Inter Miami, will be suspended for the final match of the Round 1 MLS playoff series against Nashville SC. This one-game ban follows an incident in which Suárez kicked Nashville’s Andy Nájar during the second half of their match on November 1 at Geodis Park, a game that ended in a 2-1 loss for Inter Miami. Notably, the referee did not issue a card for the incident at the time. The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced, “The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Inter Miami CF forward Luis Suárez for one match and imposed a fine of an undisclosed amount under Disciplinary Committee Parameter 3 for violent conduct in the 71st minute of the match against Nashville SC on November 1. Suárez will serve his one-match suspension on November 8 during the rematch against Nashville SC.” According to MLS regulations, postgame disciplinary actions can be applied if on-field officials fail to penalize an offense. This suspension marks Suárez’s second disciplinary action in the 2025 season; he previously received a three-game ban for spitting on a member of the Seattle Sounders’ staff following the Leagues Cup final on August 31. In a statement released on Wednesday, Inter Miami CF expressed its acceptance of the Disciplinary Committee’s decision while voicing concerns about the implications of re-refereeing an incident that had already been adjudicated by match officials and VAR. The club emphasized the importance of consistent application of standards across all matches and teams. As the playoff series stands tied at 1-1, with Inter Miami having won the first match but lost the second, the team will face a critical challenge in the upcoming decisive game without the services of Suárez.
