The Luis Suárez MLS suspension has been confirmed following Inter Miami’s playoff defeat to Nashville SC. Suárez has received a one-match ban for violent conduct in the second half of the match on November 1 at Geodis Park.

Luis Suárez MLS Suspension Details

Although the referee did not issue a card at the time, Suárez was punished after the match for kicking Nashville’s Andy Nájar. The MLS Disciplinary Committee reviewed the incident and released a formal statement:

“Luis Suárez has been suspended for one match and fined an undisclosed amount under Disciplinary Committee Parameter 3 for violent conduct in the 71st minute of the match against Nashville SC on November 1. He will serve his suspension on November 8.”

MLS rules allow for postgame disciplinary action when match officials do not address an infraction during play. This ensures that incidents missed during the match can still be sanctioned afterward.

This marks Suárez’s second suspension of the 2025 season. Earlier, he was banned for three matches for spitting on a Seattle Sounders staff member following the Leagues Cup final on August 31.

Inter Miami’s Response and Playoff Impact

Inter Miami released a statement acknowledging the committee’s decision but expressing concern over the process:

“We accept and respect the decision. However, we are concerned about the precedent of re-refereeing a play already reviewed by match officials and VAR. We expect consistent application of this standard across all matches.”

Inter Miami will now face Nashville SC in the decisive match of the Round 1 playoff series without Suárez. The series is currently level at 1–1 after both teams earned one win.

The Luis Suárez MLS suspension adds pressure to Inter Miami as they attempt to progress without one of their most influential player
