Lu s Castro s Promising Debut as Levante CoachLu s Castro s Promising Debut as Levante Coach

omidbasir- Luís Castro, the newly appointed coach of Levante, has made a spectacular debut. The team achieved a hard-fought victory at the Sánchez Pizjuán, securing a clean sheet and igniting enthusiasm among the fans regarding their chances of remaining in La Liga.

“This is a very good debut. We aimed to perform like this, ready to attack and come here to win. We pressed effectively and were not a team that simply reacted to our opponent; we consistently sought more. I am pleased with Espí and Karrem. We intend to involve all our youth players, but also to integrate the entire squad. We are aiming for more,” Castro stated.

He characterized the match as “almost perfect,” acknowledging that there are areas requiring further work due to the challenges posed by the opponent, yet he remained optimistic about the overall performance.

“We train equally with all players during the week. It is up to them to showcase their abilities. If they perform well in training, they earn points. We apply the same standards to all players, including those who see less game time. Selecting the starting eleven was challenging. Players like Espí, who have excelled when given the opportunity, make our decisions more complex,” he explained.

Castro refrained from making absolute predictions regarding the team’s fate. “Some believed Levante was certain to lose. I tell the fans that with 24 hours in a day, if it requires all hours to ensure our survival, I will dedicate myself completely to that task.”

“In recent weeks, we have focused more on offensive strategies. However, in offensive training, we also consider defensive transitions. We were aware that Sevilla scores frequently on the break, so we emphasized that aspect this week. To me, offense is not more critical than defense,” he added.

He emphasized the importance of fan support: “We need them. When we play at Ciutat, they must be there with us. There will be challenging moments, but football is a collective effort, involving more than just the players. Our work at the club is for them, and we hope they stand with us during tough times.”

Castro concluded by reflecting on the match: “We started the game very well, although Sevilla managed to exert some pressure. However, if you analyze the match, we deserved the victory. We played bravely, and at various moments, we performed well together. We endured challenges, and when we needed to step up our game, we did so. For a week of training, I believe we executed well.”
