Maarten Paes Joins Ajax: A Dream Come True

Maarten Paes is overjoyed with his recent transfer to Ajax, which was officially finalized on Monday. The 27-year-old goalkeeper returns to the Netherlands following a stint in the United States. He shares that he has been a fan of the Amsterdam club since a young age.

As Ajax’s newest signing, Paes stated, “I am proud to play for this club, for this emblem, and for this city. I will do everything in my power to repay the trust that I have been given here. It may sound cliché that playing for Ajax has been a childhood dream of mine, and that I slept in an Ajax pajamas, but it is true. It is incredibly special to be a part of this club.” He expressed these sentiments in a conversation with Ajax’s official channels.

When asked about his role within the Ajax team, Paes remarked, “I am here to play for the badge, and I strongly believe in a ‘team-first’ mentality: when the team succeeds, individuals will be rewarded. I will strive to add as much value as possible both on and off the field. Ultimately, it will be up to the coach to decide who plays, and I approach that with a rational mindset.”
