Mainz Extends Contract with Jae-sung Lee

omidbasir- Mainz has officially announced the contract extension of Jae-sung Lee, 33, beyond the upcoming summer.

The South Korean international joined the Bundesliga club from Holstein Kiel in 2021 and has established himself as a key player, amassing 28 goals and providing 23 assists over 159 appearances in all competitions.

“Jae-sung is already halfway through his fifth season as a part of the Mainz family and has consistently played a pivotal role for this team,” stated Niko Bungert, the sporting director of Mainz 05.

“He is a remarkable role model both on and off the pitch, impressing everyone with his professionalism and the quality he consistently demonstrates. We are thrilled to continue our partnership, and we firmly believe that he has much more to offer us as a player and as an individual.”

Lee expressed his enthusiasm about the contract extension: “I am delighted to have signed this extension with Mainz. It makes me proud to continue wearing this jersey. I feel completely settled here and appreciated both as a player and as a person.”

This season, the 33-year-old has contributed four goals (two goals and two assists) in 19 Bundesliga matches.
