Mainz Secures Loan Deal for Stefan Posch from BolognaMainz Secures Loan Deal for Stefan Posch from Bologna

According to a report from Sky Germany, Mainz has reached an agreement with Bologna to sign Stefan Posch on loan for the remainder of the season, with no option to purchase.

This development indicates that the Austrian defender’s loan term at Serie A club Como will be terminated. However, the report confirms that there is a consensus among all involved parties regarding this transition.

Posch is anticipated to undergo a medical examination on Wednesday.

Despite making 14 league appearances for Como during the 2025/26 season, the 28-year-old has only started in three matches. At Mainz, he is expected to provide essential cover and experience to a defense that has been impacted by injuries. Previously, Posch played for Hoffenheim.

FC Cologne had expressed interest in securing Posch but ultimately decided to pursue defensive reinforcement by acquiring Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on loan from Manchester City for the remaining campaign. The England youth international has already made three appearances in the Bundesliga since his arrival.
