Manchester City is on the verge of securing the signing of Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Recent discussions have intensified over the past 24 hours, and the England defender is anticipated to finalize a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium shortly. While a final agreement has yet to be reached, City representatives are optimistic about the successful completion of the deal.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed in a news conference on Friday that Guéhi will not participate in their upcoming Premier League match against Sunderland on Saturday.

“My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages,” Glasner stated. “I cannot confirm a specific club, as it is still not finalized, but we are nearing the end. Consequently, Marc will not play for us tomorrow.”

ESPN sources have indicated that Manchester City is expected to pay a base fee of approximately £20 million ($26.8 million) for Guéhi, who was initially anticipated to become a free agent this summer, along with potential add-ons.

In addition, the 25-year-old defender has reportedly agreed verbally to a five-and-a-half-year contract that would keep him at the Etihad until 2031.

City sources have mentioned that Guéhi has been a long-term target, with negotiations accelerating following injuries to key center-backs Josko Gvardiol, Rúben Dias, and John Stones.

Last summer, Guéhi’s prospective transfer to Liverpool fell through on deadline day, and he has attracted considerable interest from various clubs across Europe, who had anticipated him entering the free agency market this summer.
