Manchester City has finalized a deal to acquire Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, the club has announced.

Semenyo, 26, has joined the Etihad Stadium for an initial fee of £62.5 million ($84 million), with an additional £1.5 million ($2 million) contingent upon performance-related add-ons.

He has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031, following the successful completion of a medical examination on Thursday.

The Ghanaian international has been registered in time to potentially make his debut for City in the FA Cup third-round match against League One team Exeter City on Saturday. He is also available for the Carabao Cup semifinal first leg against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

Director of Football Hugo Viana stated that Semenyo, who will don the No. 42 shirt previously worn by Yaya Touré, emerged as the club’s top target during the transfer window due to his impressive performances at Bournemouth.

“We are continuously monitoring players globally, and Antoine was our primary focus,” Viana remarked. “He has demonstrated his ability to excel in the Premier League. He possesses humility, a strong work ethic, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to self-improvement, making him an ideal fit for us.”

Semenyo departs Bournemouth after netting 10 goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season, arriving at City with the intent to contribute to the club’s trophy ambitions in the latter half of the campaign.

“I am immensely proud to join Manchester City,” Semenyo expressed. “Having watched the team dominate the Premier League over the past decade under Pep Guardiola, I am excited to be part of such a successful club that has achieved remarkable feats in the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

“There is still significant room for my development, and being at this club at this point in my career feels perfect. It is truly a privilege to be here.

“I firmly believe my best football is yet to come. City is in an excellent position, still competing in four competitions, and I am confident I can help ensure a strong second half of the season.”
