A Manchester United fan group, known as the 1958 group, has condemned the club’s leadership, referring to it as “a laughing stock” while announcing new plans for protests against the management.

This group has previously organized demonstrations aimed at those in charge at Old Trafford, specifically targeting the majority owners, the Glazer family. They have expressed their discontent with the club’s leadership, including minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, accusing them of “turning the club into a circus.” The group intends to stage a protest prior to the Premier League match against Fulham on February 1.

Dissatisfaction towards the British billionaire Ratcliffe has intensified since he took control in February 2024. During a recent match against Burnley, an anti-Ratcliffe banner was displayed by supporters in the away section, coinciding with the first game following the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim.

In their statement, the 1958 group remarked, “After lurching from one disaster to another, Ratcliffe comes across as an incompetent clown turning the club into a circus. Instead of being the best in class, we have become a laughing stock.”

The group further elaborated on the troubling situation at Manchester United, stating, “It has been an extraordinary and deeply troubling few days. On the pitch, we are witnessing mediocre performances from an average team that is drifting without identity, direction, or ambition. Off the pitch, the chaos is even worse.”

Currently, United continues its search for an interim manager to succeed Amorim, with former players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, and Ruud van Nistelrooy being considered for the role. In the interim, current caretaker Darren Fletcher, who managed the team during the Burnley match, will lead the squad again when Brighton visits Old Trafford on Sunday for the third round of the FA Cup.
