omidbasir- Manchester United has no plans to renegotiate the terms regarding Marcus Rashford’s potential permanent transfer to Barcelona, according to sources speaking to ESPN. The club anticipates that the Spanish giants will honor the fee established last summer should they wish to retain the England forward.

Rashford initially joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer. Under the terms of this agreement, the LaLiga club holds the option to make the transfer permanent for a pre-agreed fee, reportedly ranging between €30 million and €35 million ($35 million to $40 million), at the end of the season.

There have been suggestions that Barcelona might seek to re-enter discussions with United in an effort to negotiate a lower fee. However, sources indicate that United is unwilling to entertain such negotiations and expects to receive the full fee if Rashford remains in Spain beyond the upcoming summer.

According to sources, Rashford is keen to continue his tenure at Barcelona. The 28-year-old forward had found himself sidelined at Old Trafford under former manager Ruben Amorim, leading to a loan spell at Aston Villa in January 2025 before making the move to Barcelona six months later.

Despite the managerial change from Amorim to Michael Carrick, United’s stance on Rashford has reportedly not shifted. Carrick has expressed that he has no concerns regarding the uncertainty affecting the conclusion of United’s season, and he views Rashford’s desire to remain in Barcelona as a positive example for younger players, as noted by Hansi Flick.

Rashford experienced his best season at United during the 2019-20 campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had Carrick as part of his coaching staff at that time. While Carrick has considered the possibility of bringing Rashford back to United, he has not communicated any intentions to explore this option to the club’s leadership at the end of the season.

During his time at Barcelona, Rashford has made a significant impact, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. He is currently contracted with Manchester United until 2028, having signed a long-term extension in 2023.
