omidbasir- Bayern Munich has confirmed that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has sustained a muscle fibre tear during the team’s 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday. This revelation comes despite earlier reports indicating that Neuer had been tentatively cleared after initial examinations.

The 39-year-old goalkeeper was forced to leave the pitch just before halftime, with 22-year-old Jonas Urbig stepping in as his replacement.

The timeline for Neuer’s return to the squad is currently unclear. He is expected to undergo scans in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury. As a result, Neuer is likely to miss several crucial Bundesliga matches over the next few weeks, including high-stakes games against Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen.

This situation presents a significant opportunity for Urbig, who is viewed as Neuer’s potential successor when the veteran decides to retire. Urbig has already made eight appearances in all competitions for Vincent Kompany’s side this season; however, he will now need to assume the role of Bayern’s primary goalkeeper, at least temporarily.
