German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who will be playing on loan at Girona from Barcelona until the end of the season, expressed his eagerness to begin his new journey upon arriving at the club’s sports city.

On Wednesday, the Catalan club released a video showcasing Ter Stegen’s initial moments as a Girona player, along with a warm welcome from head coach Míchel Sánchez. In the footage, Sánchez shares his delight at Ter Stegen’s arrival, noting that he is “very happy” to have him on the team because he is a “leader” who will provide significant assistance to the squad, currently positioned eleventh in LaLiga after securing three consecutive victories.

In the video, Ter Stegen admits that he is “a bit nervous about meeting new people after so many years” at Barcelona. With Hansi Flick’s team, he has been playing behind Joan García, and he arrives in Montilivi with the objective of gaining playing time in preparation for the World Cup next summer.

After making 423 appearances in a Barcelona jersey, Ter Stegen is poised to make his debut for Girona in the upcoming match against Getafe at Estadi de Montilivi on Monday.
