Marc Guehi Set to Miss Upcoming World Cup Qualifiers Due to InjuryMarc Guehi Set to Miss Upcoming World Cup Qualifiers Due to Injury

Defender Marc Guehi is anticipated to miss England’s last two World Cup qualifying matches due to a foot injury sustained during Crystal Palace’s midweek Conference League victory, rendering him unable to walk.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the severity of the injury on Sunday prior to their Premier League match against Brighton, stating that Guehi is dealing with “a heavy bone bruise.”

The injury occurred towards the conclusion of Palace’s 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday when Guehi was issued a yellow card for a foul. “He was unable to sleep overnight due to the pain, and after a subsequent assessment, we determined it was indeed a heavy bone bruise,” Glasner remarked during an interview with Sky Sports.

“For the past two days, he has been using crutches and has been unable to put weight on his foot. Fortunately, there are no fractures, but currently, he cannot walk. It appears he will miss England’s upcoming matches, although we hope that in 10 to 14 days, he will be able to return to training and resume playing.”

Having already secured a spot in next year’s World Cup, England is set to face Serbia at Wembley on Thursday, followed by a match against Albania in Tirana the following Sunday.

England’s squad is scheduled to report for duty on Monday, and Guehi had been included in Thomas Tuchel’s lineup alongside fellow center-backs John Stones, Ezri Konsa, and Jarell Quansah.
