Marc Guehi’s Transfer to Manchester City Advances with Medical Scheduled

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is on the verge of a £20 million transfer to Manchester City, with a medical examination scheduled for Sunday. The 25-year-old England international has successfully negotiated personal terms with the club.

Manchester City initiated discussions with Guehi this month in response to injuries sustained by key defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias. Guehi, who captains Crystal Palace and has been a target for several top European clubs, was out of contract this summer and had nearly made a switch to Liverpool last year.

He played a crucial role in leading Crystal Palace to their first major trophy, securing victory against City in the FA Cup final at Wembley. A product of Chelsea’s academy, Guehi has accumulated 188 appearances for Palace since his transfer from Swansea City in 2020, including 33 matches this season as the team participates in their inaugural Europa Conference League campaign.

The anticipated transfer has prompted Palace manager Oliver Glasner to announce his departure from the club at the end of the season. This move follows Manchester City’s recent acquisition of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £62.5 million earlier this month.
