Mark Robins has officially replaced Narcis Pelach as the manager of Stoke City, beginning his tenure on January 1st. In a significant move, Robins has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the Championship club.

At 55 years old, Robins has successfully led the Potters to greater heights since taking over the reins at the bet365 Stadium. After ensuring the team’s survival in the second tier last season, he has transformed Stoke into serious contenders for promotion back to the Premier League this year.

Under his guidance, Stoke currently stands in third place in the Championship, just two points shy of the automatic promotion spots after 15 games. Although the Potters were positioned in second before the international break, they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Coventry City, a former club of Robins, who are now managed by Frank Lampard.

Additionally, Robins’ coaching staff, which includes Paul Nevin, James Rowberry, Ryan Shawcross, and Darren Behcet, have all agreed to new contracts as well.

Club chairman John Coates expressed confidence in Robins, stating, “It has been clear during his short time with the club to date that Mark is the right fit as manager of Stoke City. The progress we have made on the field has been extremely encouraging. Our players are responding excellently to our coaching team, and it has been a pleasure to see our brilliant supporters rallying behind the club over the past year.”

Robins, who aims to return Stoke to the Premier League for the first time since 2018, conveyed his pride in managing the club. He stated, “I am hugely proud to be in charge and am fully committed to the long-term process of bringing a successful future to this club. We know it will take time, and there will be challenging as well as enjoyable periods along the way, but we are in it for the long haul.”
