Marseille Pursues Loan Deal for Arsenal s Young Talent NwaneriMarseille Pursues Loan Deal for Arsenal s Young Talent Nwaneri

The Athletic reports that Marseille is in discussions regarding a loan agreement for Arsenal’s promising forward, Nwaneri, which would see him spend the remainder of the 2025-26 season at Stade Velodrome. Although no formal agreement has been reached, it is noted that any deal would include a variable fee based on the player’s appearances.

Importantly, the loan arrangement is expected to exclude a purchase option, as Arsenal is keen to maintain control over Nwaneri’s significant potential for the long term, amidst optimism surrounding other academy graduates in North London.

Marseille is not the only club interested in Nwaneri; several European teams have inquired about a permanent transfer, which Arsenal is unwilling to consider at this stage.

The Gunners view Marseille’s proposal favorably, as it offers benefits to all parties involved. Reports indicate that Marseille’s head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, has had constructive discussions with Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, and Nwaneri himself. The Italian coach’s tactical approach is said to be a significant factor in Marseille being preferred by Arsenal.

A decision from the England Under-21 attacking midfielder is anticipated soon, as he seeks a situation that would guarantee him ample playing time.

Nwaneri made headlines when he debuted for Arsenal in September 2022, becoming the youngest player to represent the club in the Premier League at just 15 years and 181 days. At that time, great expectations surrounded his future.

Last season, he made 37 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions and appeared to have established a role in Mikel Arteta’s squad. However, this season has seen him limited to just 12 appearances, with no involvement in the Premier League since November 23.
