Matarazzo Discusses Potential Winter Transfers for Real SociedadMatarazzo Discusses Potential Winter Transfers for Real Sociedad

Pellegrino Matarazzo has made it clear that Real Sociedad will consider making winter signings, but only if the incoming player offers a substantial improvement over the current squad. This is often a challenging task during the January transfer window.

While Matarazzo has not officially confirmed Mikel Goti’s potential loan, he has alluded to it. “In general terms, it can sometimes make sense for certain players to go out on loan to gain experience and return stronger. We have many talented players who need playing time. I am in contact with Erik and the players, and it is crucial to be transparent about my thoughts and what is best for them,” he stated.

With only ten days remaining until the transfer window closes, the countdown has begun. Matarazzo acknowledged the difficulties of making transfers in the winter and reiterated the club’s philosophy of prioritizing players from Zubieta, the club’s youth academy. “Erik and I are aware of the situation: we will only make moves if we are certain that they will improve the team. It is not about making transfers for the sake of numbers; it is about making strategic decisions that enhance the squad.”

Regarding the potential addition of a forward, Matarazzo noted that Karrikaburu is not currently in consideration and that Óskarsson lacks physical assurance. However, he refrained from discussing any specific forward acquisitions. “I will reiterate, we have options, including some that may not be on many people’s radar. Therefore, there is no need to rush. I am confident that we will make the right decisions when the time comes.”
