Mat as Almeyda Receives Key Reinforcements Ahead of Elche MatchMat as Almeyda Receives Key Reinforcements Ahead of Elche Match

Good news for Matías Almeyda as his team prepares to travel to Elche for the upcoming Liga match on Monday, marking the start of their second round in the league. If everything goes as planned following recent arrangements by the club, the Argentine coach will have two last-minute ‘reinforcements’ for the game against Eder Sarabia’s squad: international players Akor Adams and Ejuke, who will return after their participation in the Africa Cup.

The Nigerian national team, represented by Adams and Ejuke, is set to compete in the third-place match against Egypt this Saturday at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, starting at 5:00 PM. According to reports from ABC de Sevilla and confirmed by official sources from the club to MARCA, the Nigerian Football Federation has agreed to release its international players immediately after the match, allowing them to return to their respective clubs unless there are any institutional obligations requiring their return to Nigeria.

This means that if there are no last-minute commitments, both Akor Adams and Ejuke will be able to fly from Casablanca to Spain after today’s match and, barring any logistical issues, arrive in Seville by tomorrow morning. They will be available for selection by Matías Almeyda for the game against Elche, should the Argentine coach deem it appropriate. These two additions are crucial for a team currently in a challenging situation, particularly struggling with goal-scoring and offensive play.

The Nervión squad held a closed-door training session this Saturday, which was the penultimate training of the week before their journey to Elche. In addition to the status of Akor and Ejuke, Almeyda is also monitoring the physical condition of Chilean player Alexis, who suffered a pelvic contusion and has missed recent training sessions. However, it appears that Suazo may have a chance to participate, having trained with the group for several days.
