Match Suspension Causes Travel Delays for Oviedo Team

The suspension of the Rayo Vallecano vs. Oviedo match, originally set for today at 14:00 hours, has prompted the Asturian team to return home earlier than planned. However, their journey has been complicated by severe weather conditions. According to a statement from the club on social media, “The team’s arrival, initially scheduled for 16:00 hours at Carlos Tartiere, will be delayed due to adverse weather in the Huerna region.”

The decision to suspend the match had already incited frustration from Oviedo, which announced it would explore potential regulatory actions following a situation it deems detrimental to its interests. The match was canceled because the pitch did not meet the necessary safety standards for play, as communicated by the league at 10:16 hours.

In accordance with league regulations, a period will now be established for submitting proposals for a new date for the match.
