Matheus Cunha has made 11 appearances for Manchester United this season.

Typically, player injuries are communicated through official club channels or during a manager’s press conference. However, recent events surrounding Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha have raised injury concerns among fans.

Cunha was scheduled to participate in a Christmas lights ceremony in Altrincham, alongside Sam Aston, known for his role as Chesney in Coronation Street, on Saturday evening—just two days prior to United’s match against Everton in the Premier League on Monday.

Unfortunately, hours before the festive event, organizers Visit Altrincham announced on Facebook that Cunha would not be attending “due to medical reasons,” citing an accident he sustained during training.

As of now, Manchester United has not publicly clarified additional details regarding the incident or its potential impact on Cunha’s availability for the forthcoming match against Everton. However, club sources have privately reassured that concerns about his absence for an extended period are unfounded.

Sources indicated that the Brazilian forward experienced a minor knock during training, suggesting that the issue is not severe. It is worth noting that this public appearance was not organized through the club.

Cunha, who joined Manchester United for £62.5 million from Wolves in the summer, has played an integral role in the team’s resurgence this season, contributing to an unbeaten streak in the last five games. He netted his first goal for the club in a 4-2 victory over Brighton in October and participated in both of Brazil’s friendlies during the recent international break.

On Friday, head coach Ruben Amorim announced that striker Benjamin Sesko would be sidelined until mid-next month due to a knee injury. Should Cunha be unavailable for Monday’s match, Amorim may need to make significant adjustments to the lineup.

Mason Mount could be considered as a potential substitute, while Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee may also be called up to the starting lineup for their first appearances this season in the Premier League. Additionally, this situation raises the possibility of a call-up for England Under-20 international Shea Lacey, who has been impressive in United’s Premier League 2 squad this season.
