Maya Jama, the presenter of Love Island, was present in the away section at the City Ground on Saturday, where she cheered for her partner, Ruben Dias, who played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s defense during the early afternoon match. The couple made their relationship public earlier this year, and Jama has frequently attended matches at the Etihad Stadium to support the Portugal international.

This experience was notably different for the 31-year-old, as she witnessed City briefly ascend to the top of the Premier League table. She shared her excitement on her official Instagram account, posting a photo and video alongside the caption: “Was a whole different experience being in the crowd at an away game.”

Following the match, the City players expressed their gratitude to the fans for their support after a challenging game in the Midlands. Dias noticed Jama in the crowd and enthusiastically pointed her out to his teammate and fellow countryman, Bernardo Silva. In a clip shared by @footballontnt, Dias can be seen smiling as he gestures towards Jama, saying, “There’s Maya!”

City’s victory over Forest, inspired by a remarkable performance from Cherki, briefly placed them at the top of the Premier League standings. Cherki assisted Tijjani Reijnders, who scored his fourth league goal since joining from AC Milan. Forest quickly equalized with Omari Hutchinson’s first goal since arriving from Ipswich, but Cherki later secured the win with a goal from the edge of the box after a well-placed corner.

Unfortunately, City’s lead was short-lived, as Arsenal reclaimed the top position with a 2-1 victory over Brighton. Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for Arsenal, which was followed by an own goal from Georginio Rutter, extending their lead. Diego Gomez scored for Brighton midway through the second half, intensifying the final moments, but Arsenal managed to secure their third consecutive league win.

Arsenal will next compete against a high-flying Aston Villa in midweek, while City will travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on New Year’s Day in pursuit of their seventh consecutive league victory. It remains uncertain if Jama will join the away supporters in Tyne and Wear to welcome the new year.
