Mbapp Demands Owed Payment from PSG Amidst Performance ConcernsMbapp Demands Owed Payment from PSG Amidst Performance Concerns

According to L’Equipe, Kylian Mbappé has taken legal action against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to recover €5.9 million that the club still owes him. In December 2025, a court ordered PSG to pay a total of €60.9 million, but €5.9 million remains unpaid, potentially leading to court-ordered seizure. The official request was filed on Friday, providing PSG with an eight-day window to settle the debt, which includes compensation for paid leave and accrued interest.

Should PSG fail to meet this deadline, Mbappé may instruct his legal representatives to withdraw the owed funds directly from the club’s accounts.

While pursuing this financial claim, Mbappé is also coping with the fallout from Real Madrid’s recent 4-2 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League. However, he contributed to Real’s 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano with a penalty scored in the 100th minute, marking a crucial moment in the match.

Following the loss to Benfica, the French superstar expressed his disappointment with his teammates during a press conference, stating, “It isn’t about quality, and it isn’t about tactics. It’s about having more desire than your opponent.”

He noted that Benfica showed greater determination, contrasting their drive with what he perceived as a lack of urgency from his own team. “Before the game, both teams had something to play for: us being in the top eight, and Benfica being among the 24. We saw it from Benfica, but you didn’t see it from us.”

Mbappé continued, emphasizing the need for consistency in their performances, “We can’t do it one day, and then not another. A team of champions doesn’t do that. We have two more games, and that hurts a bit. We wanted to have time in February to work on our play, and instead we’ll play the play-offs.”

Reflecting on the match, he remarked, “What we did today was not normal. We had a clear goal of finishing in the top eight to have two fewer games and lighten the load, but we started very poorly. They deserved to score first. We had one chance and scored, but it was the opposite that got us into the game.”

He lamented the team’s inability to control the pace of the game, stating, “When you’re a goal down, you try to push, but the opponent wastes time and that’s part of the game. We didn’t set the pace or show enough creativity to create clear chances.”

In light of the ongoing situation, French national team manager Didier Deschamps praised Mbappé, recognizing him as a “true leader” within the squad, despite mixed public perceptions of the player. “You may like Kylian, you may not, but the younger players adore him. You have this image of him as a selfish, individualistic player, but within the French national team, he acts like a true captain.”

Real Madrid is set to face Valencia on Sunday, with Mbappé aiming to enhance his impressive tally of 22 La Liga goals this season. Overall, he has scored 37 goals in 30 appearances, showcasing an extraordinary campaign thus far.
