This sum encompasses unpaid wages, signing bonuses, and accrued interest from the final months of his contract with the club. While PSG initially settled the principal amount of €55 million, they only recently added an additional €4 million following an enforcement action, leaving an outstanding balance.

In response to the allegations, PSG insists that it has fulfilled all financial obligations, citing technicalities related to tax and social security contributions. A spokesperson for the club stated, “All sums due to Mbappe have been paid by the club,” attributing the remaining discrepancy to issues surrounding employee social security contributions.

The ongoing financial dispute has significant implications for the public image of the Ligue 1 champions. Reports indicate that PSG is actively seeking to negotiate a settlement with Mbappe to prevent a potentially damaging court-mandated penalty. The tribunal’s ruling includes a clause requiring PSG to publish the full text of their legal defeat prominently on their official website for a month.

Mbappe’s camp has remained resolute, showing no inclination to waive the publication requirement or the remaining €2 million. The ruling specified that the player was entitled to €36.6 million gross as part of the third installment of his signing bonus, along with an additional €3.6 million in associated holiday pay.

Moreover, the tribunal awarded Mbappe €17.2 million gross for salaries owed during the months of April, May, and June 2024, plus an additional €1.7 million in paid leave for the same period. The judge also mandated the payment of €1.5 million as an ethics bonus for the final three months of 2024 and €150,000 in associated holiday pay. To compound the financial repercussions for PSG, the court ordered the club to cover €5,000 in legal costs incurred by Mbappe’s legal team.

This series of rulings constitutes a significant setback for PSG’s management, who previously contended that Mbappe had agreed to forgo these bonuses when he was excluded from the squad in 2023. These assertions have failed to withstand scrutiny, with the tribunal becoming the second independent entity to side with the player against the club’s administration.
