Michael Carrick to Lead Manchester United Without New SigningsMichael Carrick to Lead Manchester United Without New Signings

Michael Carrick will lead the squad he has inherited as the head coach of Manchester United, with the club reportedly having no plans to pursue new signings during the current transfer window, according to sources from ESPN.

Carrick, aged 44, was officially appointed as head coach at Old Trafford until the end of the season on Tuesday, surpassing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ruud van Nistelrooy for the interim role following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim. This position serves as a bridge to a permanent appointment anticipated this summer.

Despite Manchester United’s recent struggles, having secured only one victory in their last seven matches across all competitions, Carrick will be tasked with maximizing the potential of the existing squad.

Sources indicate that the club recognizes the necessity to enhance their midfield options. However, with none of their primary targets, including Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, and Carlos Baleba from Brighton, available this month, the club will refrain from making short-term acquisitions to address these deficiencies.

As Carrick embarks on his coaching journey at Manchester United, he has maintained an unbeaten record, demonstrating flexibility and achieving notable victories, including a win against Mikel Arteta’s side.

With several players returning from injury, including forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, the United squad is nearly at full strength. The club’s hierarchy is confident that Carrick has sufficient depth within his squad to navigate the remaining 17 Premier League matches this season.

Furthermore, sources suggest that player departures are unlikely, with Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo expected to remain with the club throughout this month.
