Mike Kleijn Reflects on Lessons Learned from Arne Slot

Mike Kleijn has rapidly gained valuable insights from his time with Arne Slot. The left-back experienced a brief period at Feyenoord before transferring to local rivals Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2024. After a challenging start, he has recently begun to see more playing time.

In an interview with BN De Stem, Sparta defender Mike Kleijn discussed the lessons learned from Arne Slot during his youth at Feyenoord. “During my time in the youth team, I was given the opportunity by Slot to train with the first team and even joined them on a training camp,” the 20-year-old from Breda shared. “Under Arne Slot, the focus was heavily on details. He would use video footage to show me that I hadn’t scanned the field before receiving the ball.” Due to stiff competition, opportunities for playtime were limited for Kleijn.
