omidbasir- AC Milan has successfully persuaded their first-choice goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, to commit his immediate future to the club, with aspirations that other senior players will follow suit.

Next in line for a contract extension is England international defender Fikayo Tomori, whose current agreement runs until 2027. Additionally, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the former Chelsea midfielder, has received an offer to continue his career in Serie A.

Luka Modric made the transition to Milan in the summer of 2025, concluding a remarkable 13-year tenure at Real Madrid. His contract includes a 12-month option, and the seasoned midfielder is anticipated to extend his playing career further.

Christopher Nkunku, a team colleague, praised Modric’s exceptional talents, remarking on his ability to deliver remarkable cross-field passes even at the age of 40. Nkunku speculated that Modric could potentially continue playing until he is 45 or 46.

Milan remains hopeful regarding Modric’s future, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that he will make a decision at the end of the current season based on his motivation and physical condition.

Reflecting on his move to Milan, Modric expressed a desire for a new challenge after achieving significant success at Madrid. He stated, “It wasn’t easy. I spent almost half my life there. I arrived at 27 and left at almost 40. At a club that doesn’t tolerate mediocrity, staying that long is incredible.”

He further added, “I believe I joined a club very close to Madrid in reputation and history. It was the ideal situation for me. When the Milan opportunity arose, I knew it was the right one. The warm welcome from everyone at the club made me feel that Milan is a historic giant.”

Christian Pulisic, another recent addition, also emphasized the rich history of AC Milan upon his arrival at San Siro. He completed his move from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and has since experienced a productive spell in Italy, achieving personal bests with 17 goals last season and continuing his success this term.

However, contract discussions with Pulisic, which began last year, have yet to conclude as he has paused negotiations following the team’s failure to qualify for the European competitions in the 2025-26 season.

Former USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel commented on Pulisic’s situation, suggesting that the forward may be keeping his options open. Friedel noted, “There are only two reasons for not signing: either you are unhappy with the contract, or you are exploring other options. If Pulisic is satisfied, he would likely sign the contract.”

Pulisic’s future has been the subject of speculation, with Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham reportedly interested in his services. Modric, familiar with life in North London from his time at Tottenham, also faces important decisions regarding his immediate future.
