Nani joined Manchester United in 2007, following the path of his legendary compatriot, Cristiano Ronaldo, who also made the transition from Sporting Lisbon. Over the course of eight years with the Red Devils, Nani made 230 appearances and netted 40 goals.

During his tenure, the agile winger played a pivotal role in securing four Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson. After leaving United, he enjoyed stints in Turkey, Spain, Italy, and Australia, as well as a three-season spell in Major League Soccer with Orlando City.

Now at the age of 39, Nani retired from professional football in December 2024. However, he has maintained his fitness and displayed his skills recently at the Baller League, where he represented the ‘Legends’ team. In a one-on-one challenge, Nani expertly struck the ball into the top corner before celebrating with his iconic somersault.

Baller League has attracted several notable figures, including Premier League legends like Ian Wright and John Terry, who are currently in coaching roles. Additionally, Como Women star Alisha Lehmann has partnered with Love Island host Maya Jama, who is also the partner of Manchester City defender Ruben Dias, to contribute to MVPs United.

Wright shared with GIVEMESPORT his enthusiasm for Baller League, emphasizing its unique blend of football, entertainment, and culture. He remarked, “This is something that, if I was younger, I’d have loved. It’s real, skills, instinct, and end-to-end football. This is what six-a-side is meant to be.”

Lehmann, who has also coached in the German version of the event, expressed her desire to foster a sense of community among players. She conveyed an uplifting message to young viewers: “Never give up. Always believe in yourself and do what makes you happy.”

While Nani is pursuing his passion, he has expressed dissatisfaction with Manchester United’s recent performances. The team was eliminated from the FA Cup by Brighton, effectively ending their hopes of major silverware this season. Furthermore, the club has parted ways with Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim after a 14-month stint and is currently in the process of appointing an interim manager, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick among the candidates.
