After eight years in the youth academy, Nassef Chourak is leaving Ajax without having made his debut for the first team. The midfielder, who captained Jong Ajax, is making a mid-season transfer to Kalmar FF in Sweden. “People may look down on this decision, but it is not a bad move,” he stated.

In an interview with FotbollDirekt, a sister site of SoccerNews, Chourak reflected on his time at Ajax. “I had a fantastic experience and learned a lot. I have grown both as a person and as a player. You always trained with the best players at the highest level and with excellent coaches.”

Despite his development, Chourak was unable to break into the first team at Ajax and is now switching from the youth squad to the Swedish side Kalmar. “I was simply ready to take the next step and play for a team at a higher level. When Kalmar came into the picture, it was perfect for me. The plan they have for me is ideal. I want to play at the highest level possible.”
