NEC Engages Jorge Mendes to Secure Optimal Deal for Kodai Sano

omidbasir- NEC has enlisted the services of renowned agent Jorge Mendes to secure the best possible deal for midfielder Kodai Sano. This strategy mirrors that of AZ Alkmaar, who similarly sought Mendes’ expertise for player Kees Smit.

The influence and extensive network of Mendes could potentially yield millions in additional revenue for NEC. General Director Wilco Van Schaik explained to De Telegraaf, “As NEC, we cannot navigate the global market entirely on our own. We intentionally open ourselves to individuals with greater knowledge and experience in certain markets than we possess. This approach enables us to make better choices, strike stronger deals, and establish more sustainable agreements for both the club and our players.”

In recent months, Sano has been linked to several clubs, including top Dutch teams that previously expressed interest in the Japanese talent. However, it remains uncertain whether these clubs can meet NEC’s asking price, which is reportedly around 20 million euros. Additionally, reports from Germany suggest that FSV Mainz 05 is considering Sano as a potential successor for his brother.
