NEC Retains Key Players Amid Transfer OffersNEC Retains Key Players Amid Transfer Offers

omidbasir- Marcel Boekhoorn personally took action to ensure that NEC Nijmegen did not part ways with midfielder Kodai Sano in January. Despite receiving offers from clubs including Nottingham Forest and Ajax, the Nijmegen club rejected all proposals.

Boekhoorn expressed the club’s ambition to compete in European football, stating, “We have a very strong chance of playing in Europe next season,” during the Nijmeegse Herenzitting on Sunday. Even an offer nearing twenty million euros was insufficient to persuade NEC to sell.

Additionally, Boekhoorn confirmed that coach Dick Schreuder will remain with the club for the next three years, as he has signed a contract and is reportedly thriving in his role. “Dick Schreuder has been with us for three years, is doing an excellent job, and will stay with us for the next three years,” he stated.
