Carlos Aalbers, the Director of Player Affairs at NEC, is unfazed by the rising interest in the club’s players. Top clubs such as Ajax and PSV, along with international teams, have begun sending scouts to Nijmegen.

“I understand that our supporters may feel anxious, but internally, we are calmly monitoring the developments,” Aalbers commented in an interview with De Gelderlander. “I have received numerous calls from other clubs, but experience shows that not much happens during the winter transfer window. This period is typically more about player loans. We have a deep squad, so it is only natural that we receive many inquiries.”

Regarding player values, Aalbers noted, “On the other hand, if we continue our strong performance this season, our players will be worth a significant sum by next summer. If we maintain our fourth-place position, we will be making history, and that is our goal.”

He specifically mentioned Kodai Sano, stating, “We have a substantial price in mind for Sano. I won’t disclose the exact amount, but I believe most clubs will find it unaffordable. If clubs wish to acquire one of our starting players, they must pay a premium, especially since we are in the middle of the season and are currently involved in something special.”
