NEC is experiencing a remarkable season, largely thanks to the efforts of head coach Dick Schreuder. His strong performance has drawn interest from major clubs such as Ajax and Feyenoord. The question remains, will he leave this summer? According to Johan Derksen, the Nijmegen club has a solid opportunity to retain him, thanks to benefactor Marcel Boekhoorn.

Derksen commented on Boekhoorn in his podcast, Groeten uit Grolloo, saying, “Marcel Boekhoorn can always offer a higher salary than Ajax. He is a unique individual, a true benefactor. Both he and his father were dedicated supporters of NEC. Over the years, the club faced numerous difficulties. On his deathbed, his father urged him, ‘Marcel, you must keep NEC alive.’ He has honored that promise, covering the club’s deficits year after year, amounting to over thirty million euros so far.”

Interest in Dick Schreuder is not limited to Ajax and Feyenoord; clubs from abroad are also keeping a close eye on him. However, Boekhoorn has firmly stated that there will be no departure. “Dick has signed a three-year contract with us, is very happy here, and is performing excellently. He will be with us for the next three years,” he declared on ESPN. When asked about the possibility of a lucrative offer, he confidently responded, “That doesn’t matter; there’s no chance of that happening.”
