The Magpies are set to compete against Qarabag in a two-legged play-off for a chance to reach the Round of 16 in the prestigious tournament.

In their most recent match, Newcastle drew 1-1 with defending champions Paris St-Germain, which allowed them to secure a 12th place finish. PSG, who concluded the league phase in 11th place, will face Monaco in the playoffs. Meanwhile, 15-time European champions Real Madrid will meet with their former manager Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.

The first legs of the play-offs will occur on February 17-18, with the return legs scheduled for the following week.

The final for the 2025-26 Champions League will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30.
