Ángel Torres Discusses Current Club Matters Ahead of Mallorca Match

Ángel Torres spoke ahead of the match against Mallorca, reflecting on several significant issues regarding the club, including the potential sale of the team, aspirations for European competition, and the contract renewal of coach Bordalás, whose contract expires this season.

Regarding European ambitions, Torres stated, “In August, I mentioned that we had one of the best squads in our history. The way they compete, coupled with our coach, who is a reliable asset, gives us confidence. We need to proceed carefully, step by step.”

On the sale of the team, he remarked, “No, not anytime soon. Eventually, when I leave, someone else will take over. As the owner, I will need to sell as my children have no interest in managing the club. I will make that decision after laying the last brick.”

When asked about interest from Qatari investors, he clarified, “Nothing at all. I met with that group; they are interested in the stadium’s naming rights, which has resurfaced, but there is nothing new to report on that front. So far, we haven’t had any formal discussions.”

Concerning Bordalás, Torres emphasized, “He knows this is his home, and we will discuss things at the end of the season. If he wants to continue, there will be no issues. He feels comfortable here, and we cannot demand more from him. We are working on improving and building better teams to compete for a place in Europe next year.”

Regarding Bordalás’s contract renewal, he concluded, “Once we secure our safety for the season, we will sit down to talk, and if he wishes to stay, he will be welcomed to do so.”
