Nottingham Forest has successfully negotiated a deal with Manchester City for goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, valued at up to £500,000.

In addition to Ortega, Sean Dyche’s team is pursuing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, looking to secure him initially on loan with a subsequent option for a permanent transfer. The 26-year-old Frattesi has earned 33 caps for Italy and has made 19 appearances for Inter this season.

Stefan Ortega, a 33-year-old German goalkeeper, currently serves as the third choice at Manchester City, following Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford. With his contract expiring this summer, Ortega has not yet made an appearance for Pep Guardiola’s squad this season.

Nottingham Forest’s need for a goalkeeper has arisen due to a knee injury sustained by John Victor, which is expected to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. Initially, the club considered a move for Wolves’ José Sá but has since shifted focus to Ortega.

Since joining City in 2022, Ortega has played in 56 matches, contributing significantly to their Premier League title victory in 2024. Last season, he made 22 appearances, which included participation in the Club World Cup in July and the FA Cup final, where City was defeated by Crystal Palace.

Currently, Nottingham Forest is aiming for qualification in the Europa League play-offs while sitting in 17th place in the Premier League. They have already secured a loan deal for Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca and previously had a £35 million bid for Crystal Palace’s striker Jean-Philippe Mateta rejected.
