Nottingham Forest Set to Appoint Pereira as New Manager Amidst Relegation Battle 1Nottingham Forest Set to Appoint Pereira as New Manager Amidst Relegation Battle 1

omidbasir- According to BBC Sport, Nottingham Forest is on the verge of appointing Pereira as their fourth permanent manager this season, as the club strives to evade relegation following their recent 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, who remain at the bottom of the league table. The team has previously been managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, who is now at West Ham United, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche, making Pereira the final addition to this managerial quartet. Reports indicate that Pereira quickly became the preferred choice for owner Evangelos Marinakis, who had previously engaged the Portuguese manager at Olympiacos in Greece.

Pereira successfully kept Wolves in the Premier League last season; however, his tenure ended after the team earned only two points from their first ten games this term, leading to his dismissal from Molineux.

Nottingham Forest did not mince words in announcing Dyche’s departure. The club released a statement confirming his dismissal: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the Club and wish them the best of luck in the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Dyche may have been caught off guard by the decision, as his program notes had emphasized the need for strong support from fans. Despite the team’s struggles, they have only lost one of their last five matches, which included a draw against league leaders Arsenal.

In his notes, Dyche remarked, “Last Friday at Leeds United was a tough night, and one we need to learn from quickly. We knew it would be difficult, facing tough moments during the 90 minutes, but we conceded poor goals at crucial times that ultimately cost us. We don’t get carried away with good results, nor should we be overly discouraged by disappointing performances. It’s about persistence and striving to improve for our next game.”

He expressed optimism about the upcoming match, stating, “Fortunately, we haven’t had to wait too long to get back out there. I know that all of us—the players, the staff, and you supporters—are determined to see a reaction. Our goal is to play with intensity, fight for every ball, and present a formidable challenge for the opposition. The team will always benefit from your continued support at City Ground. Let’s make it a great evening.”

Currently, Forest sits three points ahead of a revitalized West Ham, yet they also face a tough Europa League challenge, with a two-legged playoff against Fenerbahce on the horizon, followed by starting their Premier League campaign under a new manager against Liverpool.

In the aftermath of the Wolves draw, Dyche criticized the “lies” circulating within football, stating, “The lies are probably a reflection of modern football and its evolving demands. I’m not defending it; I’m just acknowledging the reality. The expectations are continuously rising. We lost one in six matches, and if we were mid-table, it would be considered a good run. But since we didn’t beat Wolves, there’s a call for my departure. This is modern management; the demands are changing rapidly.”

Pereira will aim to swiftly instigate a turnaround for Forest as they seek to distance themselves from relegation, which would pose significant risks to the club’s finances and overall structure.
