Nottingham Forest has officially signed goalkeeper Stefan Ortega from Manchester City. The 33-year-old, who is set to become a free agent this summer, is joining the club in a deal that could reach £500,000.

Currently, Ortega serves as the third-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City, following Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford in the pecking order.

Edu Gaspar, Nottingham Forest’s global head of football, expressed enthusiasm about the signing, stating, “Stefan arrives here with fantastic experience and a winning mentality, having been part of such a successful team for the past few seasons. When it became clear that the goalkeeper position needed addressing, Stefan immediately stood out. He will provide excellent competition for our group of goalkeepers and will contribute significantly to the team both on and off the pitch.”

Ortega, who has not yet featured for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, was brought in to address Nottingham Forest’s urgent need for a goalkeeper due to a knee injury that is expected to sideline first-choice keeper John Victor for the remainder of the season. Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Ortega has made 56 appearances and played a crucial role in their Premier League title victory in 2024, including 22 matches last season.
