Nottingham Forest s John Victor Out for Season with Knee InjuryNottingham Forest s John Victor Out for Season with Knee Injury

omidbasir- Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor has been officially ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury during a match against Aston Villa earlier this month. According to sources from BBC Sport, he will not be returning to action this term.

With only Angus Gunn available as backup to Matz Sels, Nottingham Forest is currently engaged in discussions to sign Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa before the upcoming transfer deadline on Monday.

Victor and Sels have shared the goalkeeping responsibilities at the City Ground throughout the season. Any potential acquisition of Sa will depend on Wolverhampton Wanderers, who currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League, finding a suitable replacement.

Victor exited the field in the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on January 3, after injuring his knee while conceding the third goal to John McGinn. Manager Sean Dyche commented earlier this month: “John Victor is injured unfortunately and has had a minor operation on his knee, so he’ll be out for a little bit. We’re not sure on the timescale yet.”

Victor joined Nottingham Forest from Botafogo during the summer and has made a total of nine appearances for the club. He took over from Sels as the starting goalkeeper for five Premier League matches before sustaining the aforementioned injury.

Additionally, Forest has been without striker Chris Wood since October, as he underwent knee surgery in December following a successful season where he scored 20 goals.
