Sky Germany reports that FC Nürnberg is nearing an agreement to extend the contract of head coach Miroslav Klose.

The club has reached a preliminary agreement with the former striker to extend his contract, which is set to expire next summer. Klose’s new deal is expected to be valid until 2028, with the signing anticipated before the end of the year.

This marks Klose’s second senior managerial position, following his previous roles within the youth setup at Bayern Munich and his tenure as head coach of Austrian side Altach.

In his inaugural season at the Max-Morlock Stadion, Klose guided the team to a 10th place finish. However, the club faced challenges during the summer transfer window, losing several key players such as Caspar Jander and Stefanos Tzimas.

At the beginning of the current season, doubts were cast on Klose’s position as the team languished in 18th place after five games. Despite this rocky start, Nürnberg has improved significantly, losing only one of their last seven matches and climbing to 11th position in the 2.Bundesliga table.
