Oscar Hospitalized After Abnormal Cardiac Results During Fitness Test

Oscar, the former Chelsea midfielder, is currently hospitalized following abnormal cardiac results revealed during a fitness test, as announced by his current club, São Paulo.

On Tuesday, the 34-year-old athlete experienced discomfort while using an exercise bicycle and temporarily lost consciousness. Subsequently, he was transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.

In a statement, São Paulo confirmed: “Oscar exhibited abnormal cardiac reactions during a routine preseason medical checkup conducted via Super CT on the morning of the 11th. He received immediate treatment from our medical team and the staff at Einstein Israel Hospital.”

The statement further elaborated that, “Oscar was later transported to the hospital and is currently in a stable condition. He is undergoing additional tests for an accurate diagnosis, and we are monitoring his progress closely.”

Oscar returned to his boyhood club, São Paulo, in December 2024 after an eight-year stint in China. His current contract with the club, managed by former Argentina and Chelsea star Hernan Crespo, is set to expire at the end of 2027.

Amidst ongoing injury challenges this year, reports suggest that Oscar is contemplating retirement.
