Outkast and MUNDIAL have collaborated to launch a limited-edition Stankonia FC capsule, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the iconic hip-hop album, Stankonia. This celebration coincides with the induction of the Atlanta duo into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this weekend. Renowned figures in both music and culture, André 3000 and Big Boi of Outkast have partnered with the innovative football and lifestyle magazine, MUNDIAL. This marks Outkast’s inaugural venture into soccer, showcasing a unique fusion of hip-hop and the sport with the introduction of a specially designed soccer jersey. Stankonia, released 25 years ago, is a groundbreaking 24-track album that reshaped the landscape of hip-hop. Its experimental nature and genre-defying sound have ensured its status as a classic, rich with timeless tracks that continue to resonate today. The collaboration aims to celebrate this legacy by reimagining the album as a fictional soccer team, Stankonia F.C. The capsule draws inspiration from the iconic black and white Stars and Stripes featured in the album’s cover art, seamlessly integrating elements of soccer style into a jersey, hoodie, and t-shirts. The jersey evokes a nostalgic 90s aesthetic, complete with a classic collar, and displays both Outkast’s logo and a monochrome U.S. flag on the chest. The shirt also features the lyrics ‘Foreva Eva’ from their celebrated single ‘Ms. Jackson’ above the number 25, signifying the anniversary. The collection includes a short-sleeved tee adorned with a custom Stankonia F.C. crest alongside MUNDIAL’s logo, while the long-sleeve shirt prominently displays the club’s name in a gothic typeface. Additionally, the black hoodie features the lyrics ‘The sky is falling, ain’t no need to panic’ from the classic track ‘So Fresh, So Clean.’ As Outkast prepares for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Atlanta anticipates the 2026 World Cup, the Stankonia F.C. capsule underscores the duo’s groundbreaking legacy. This release not only celebrates their profound impact on hip-hop but also highlights their influence at the intersection of fashion and soccer, merging music and sports culture in a tribute to the beloved game.
