Pablo Marín Extends Contract with Real Sociedad Until 2029

Real Sociedad has officially announced this afternoon the contract extension of Pablo Marín until 2029. Starting this weekend, he will transition from wearing the number 28, previously associated with a reserve player, to donning the number 15, which belongs to the first team. His previous contract was set to expire in 2028, thus extending his tenure by an additional year.

Since joining the first team, Pablo Marín has participated in 76 matches over three seasons, with 38 of those appearances occurring in the 2024-25 season, during which he was a key player under coach Imanol Alguacil. However, with the arrival of new coach Matarazzo, Marín has seen a decrease in his role, having yet to start a match, coming off the bench in three out of five games under the New Jersey native.

The ‘new’ number 15 of Real Sociedad is eager to mark his contract renewal with a win in the upcoming derby. “We are in a good moment and full of energy, and it would be wonderful to win the derby this weekend. That’s the celebration I wish for right now.”

Marín expressed his happiness regarding the renewal, stating, “Today is a very beautiful and special day for me because Real is the club of my life. I have grown here both as a player and as a person. I came here as a child, and now I am a man. It is a dream to continue here for more years. There have been times when I have had playing time and others when I haven’t, but I always stay focused on working hard daily and being ready to contribute whenever needed.”
