Pep Guardiola Celebrates Milestone of 1,000 Matches as a Manager

Sir Alex Ferguson has offered his heartfelt congratulations to Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, as he prepares to mark his 1,000th match in management.

Guardiola will reach this significant milestone when Manchester City hosts Liverpool on Sunday. Under his leadership, the team has secured six Premier League titles and achieved Champions League success.

In his remarks on behalf of the League Managers Association, the legendary former Manchester United manager Ferguson, who himself managed over 2,000 games throughout his illustrious career, stated: “Pep! I am absolutely delighted to welcome you to join the prestigious LMA Hall of Fame 1,000 Club.

“Your deep love and passion for the game have always been apparent, and you should take pride in the profound impact you continue to have on football worldwide.

“Reaching 1,000 matches and maintaining such longevity in the sport is a landmark that should never be underestimated, and your ability to deliver league titles, Champions League victories, and domestic cups in three of Europe’s most competitive leagues is nothing short of outstanding.”

Guardiola began his managerial journey with Barcelona B, later progressing to the first team at Barcelona, followed by a tenure at Bayern Munich, before joining Manchester City in 2016. To date, he has won 715 of his 999 matches.

“I am incredibly proud to be reaching 1,000 matches as a manager, which has always been a special ambition of mine,” Guardiola remarked.
