Potential January Departure of Souffian El Karouani from FC Utrecht

There is a strong possibility that Souffian El Karouani will leave FC Utrecht as early as January. The left-back, known for his impressive assists, has attracted considerable interest from various clubs.

FC Utrecht aims to secure a substantial transfer fee for El Karouani in January. Last summer, he was close to joining Spartak Moscow, with the transfer fee nearly reaching 7 million euros. According to club owner Frans van Seumeren, this amount is particularly significant as the club still needs to recover 7.5 million euros in their budget.

Van Seumeren stated in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad, “Some people believe that such a transfer should proceed without repercussions. However, given the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, we must carefully consider our options. Kees Jansma was immediately opposed to the idea, and the rest of the Supervisory Board shares the same concerns.”
