In a captivating Champions League clash in Paris, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) demonstrated resilience after trailing twice against Tottenham Hotspur. Richarlison initiated the scoring, but Vitinha equalized just before halftime, a pivotal moment that ignited an exceptional display from the young midfielder. Following another Tottenham lead early in the second half, PSG quickly retaliated, with Vitinha showcasing his composure by netting the equalizer.

Expressing his elation in an interview with TNT Sports, Vitinha remarked on achieving multiple goals for the first time in his professional career: “It’s the first time. Even two, it’s the first time [laughs]. I had never scored two in the same game.”

PSG then turned the match in their favor, with Fabian Ruiz and Willian Pacho contributing goals before Vitinha completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot, securing a decisive victory and taking home the match ball. This win marks PSG’s fourth triumph in five Champions League matches, propelling them closer to a top-eight finish.

Post-match, Vitinha elaborated on the mental shift that facilitated his scoring success, stating: “It was incredible; I think it’s partly in your head. If you don’t think about scoring a lot of goals, you probably won’t. You have to believe, you have to push too… I’m very happy to have scored, but mainly for the victory. It was important to be behind twice and have the personality to come back.”

He also acknowledged the influence of Joao Neves’ recent hat-trick against Armenia, suggesting it might have inspired him: “Actually, I had never thought about scoring a hat trick. Maybe Joao inspired me! But it’s true that when it happens, you think: ‘maybe I can too’.”

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank praised Vitinha’s performance despite the loss, calling him one of the standout players in global football. “Vitinha is the best midfielder in the world. He will be the next Ballon d’Or winner,” he stated, reinforcing the midfielder’s growing reputation.

Following this victory, PSG holds a robust position in the league phase, amassing 12 points, equal with Bayern Munich but ahead on goal difference. They have also shown consistent performance against Premier League teams this year, marking their sixth win in ten encounters with English clubs in 2025.

Next, PSG will shift their focus back to Ligue 1, facing Monaco this weekend, providing another opportunity for Vitinha to further demonstrate his remarkable form as the team aims to maintain its momentum during this crucial part of the season.
