PSV’s Disappointing Defeat Against FC Volendam

omidbasir- On Friday evening, PSV suffered a disappointing defeat, losing 2-1 to FC Volendam, their third loss this season against a lower-tier Eredivisie team. Jerdy Schouten struggled to provide a satisfactory explanation for this setback.

Reflecting on the match, Schouten remarked, “I think we played two different halves.” He noted that while PSV performed well in the first half, they failed to convert their chances. “We created six or seven opportunities in their penalty area during the first half, but we couldn’t find the net. This allowed the opponent to maintain belief in the game.”

Joey Veerman’s return to Volendam ended on a sour note. He emphasized the importance of taking early opportunities, stating, “We needed to score two or three times in the opening phase. We’ve often done that this season, but today we weren’t sharp enough. They had many players positioned in their penalty area, and we didn’t bring enough players in to challenge.”
